Russian News Agency, TASS, is reporting that Seagal is set for a new reality TV show. No details as yet, but looks like Rossiya-1 will be treating their viewers to a project surrounding Seagal’s free “Far Eastern hectare” in Primorye and plans to turn it into a sports facility.
Jings! We’ve just learned from The Guardian that Seagal has been banned from entering Ukraine for 5 years, as he has “committed socially dangerous actions … that contradict the interests of maintaining Ukraine’s security”
Hardly surprising, right enough. Seagal pretty much considers Putin a friend and has been pretty supportive about his policies and suchlike – going so far as to say the annexation of Crimea in 2014 was “very reasonable”. Oooft.
As well as that, he played a pro-Putin gig in Crimea just a few years back, too (complete with the flag of eastern Ukraine separatists flying onstage).
So, the Phoenix Times reports that Seagal found in contempt of court and dealt a $500 fine for attempting to avoid Jury Service. Judge Warner clearly doesn’t like him.
Everyone does jury service… John McCain found a day, took jury service, and a lot of [people] depend on him. Judges do jury service. I’ve had a number of my colleagues on the [jury] panels. I get doctors, I get lawyers. I get business owners, I get street sweepers. Everyone comes in and gets jury service.
Also, his attorney Mark Goldman had was being awfy creative:
Mr. Seagal’s contracts are personal service contracts where it is clearly impossible for him to delegate his work to another individual… nor is a 6’5″ stunt double martial artist available with a 7th degree black belt in Aikido.
Clearly hasn’t seen much of Seagal’s DTV releases these days.
Steven Seagal recently visited Minsk in Belarus and found himself treated to some marvellous produce and, reportedly, a meal of lard by Belarusian President Alexander Lukashenko. It’s a visit that’s getting a fair bit of attention and, naturally, the media are focussing on Seagal’s hook-up with the chap they’re describing as the “last dictator of Europe” (this is Lukashenko’s fifth term as President).
Seagal with President Lukashenko
Anyhoo, the visit gave us some great images (we’re awfy fond of Seagal with the watermelons – he looks like he’s had a bit of a chuckle about something), but what’s been mentioned only as a footnote in the reports of Seagal’s Belarus stop is actually pretty swell news, too.
Seagal visiting Wargaming
See, Seagal is the new Heroic Battle Expert to Belarusian online game developer Wargaming. That’s right. Steven Seagal has signed up as an advisor for for a game about naval warfare. Awesome.
“His resume speaks for itself: he’s a man who’s hard to kill, always out for justice, and willing to make an executive decision. With numerous victories against the odds under his belt (and as a guy who knows a thing or two about warships), Steven is the only man up to the task” – Wargaming
You can watch Seagal’s visit to the Wargaming offices below.
The other great news was dropped on us via Seagal’s twitter account.
